I am a shoe destroyer. I'm the girl who gets turned away from repair shops because I somehow have a way of damaging shoes beyond repair. I've mangled two pairs of Margiela's (I don't like talking about this) and wore holes through my Bottega Veneta oxfords. Lets not even TALK about the three pairs of Jeffrey Campbell shoes that I've thrown away in the past year. Now yow might ask yourself, "how does this happen???" It's simple. I WEAR my shoes.
I subscribe to the philosophy that if I'm going to spend $x00 on a pair of shoes, then I should be able to wear them with some sort of frequency. I've also mistakenly been under the impression that the higher the designer, the better the quality AKA longer life which is SO not the case. Lets take, for instance, these Jeffrey Campbell thigh high/slouch boots above, that I purchased last-pair $50. I've worn them for the past 3-4 years and they're just starting to fall apart around the toe.
Oh and for the record, I own 6 pairs of heels, 6 pairs of boots, and 2 pairs of lace up oxfords.

Those boots are gorgeous and wow, what a bargain. I expected you to have more pairs of shoes, somehow.
I think it's smart that you own fewer pairs of shoes, but what you do own are perfect (aside from breaking in half). I think most people tend to horde a lot of imperfect shoes (this includes myself) trying to make quantity make up for quality. You make good shoe decisions - have you considered teaching?
I just sent this post to a bunch of my friends as I agree with
most of what you’re saying here and the way you’ve presented it
is awesome.
I also blog from time to time on this stuff. In fact, here’s an
expert from my most recent blog post…
When it comes to turning fashion drawings into real items, many individuals out there instinctively say “but, I can’t do that.” While that may ring true for some, it doesn’t have to be the same for you. Yes, it isn’t always easy turning your fashion drawings into real products, but it is more than possible to do. If you would like information or assistance with how you can about doing so, you will want to continue reading on.

Keep up the good work,

Those boots are awesome! They have a great casual, kick-around, feel to them but they are still really stylish and sexy. Great look!
They look way better as thigh high boots rather than the fold-over knee high boots.
oh man oh man this is a good post. it's great that you actually know how many pairs of shoes you have and that you wear them all. you're absolutely right about the quality of the $$$ shoes. no doubt. you totally deserve the estella's. i saw them today and played with the beautifully sculptured heel. i am sure you'd wear it so well.
I kill my shoes as well... I tend to wear my latest favourite daily until it's a piece of pulp and then I STILL wear them while they have scuffed scrappy heels, until I feel too self conscious about it and they must retire...
amy may - I used to have a much larger closet/shoe collection back when I hoarded vintage/secondhand items. Now that I pay more for clothing, I make sure to have a much more edited selection of things that I loooooooooove instead of throwaway items!!
tyler - oh, i'll teach you a lesson any time...
DACstyle - thanks for spreading the word! I truly appreciate it.
kirk - whenever I wear them as thigh-highs, I kind of feel like a superhero which is a nice, empowering, world-conquering feeling. thanks for the response.
f.i.p. - oh god. I haven't allowed myself into barney's this season for EXACTLY that reason! I'm already tortured looking at Margiela spike-heeled boots daily, so if I actually view the stellas in person, I might be reduced to rash acts of theft...
w p-z - oh god whenever I get new shoes that I love, I tend to wear them every day too. I'm embarrassed to bring them to shoe repair :-(
omg! Love those boots! Gimme!
i know, it KILLS me.
When I wore through my first pair of Marni flats I was so precious about my second pair there was barely any point of even owning them. I gave in and now THEY'VE given up....
