INSPIRATION & POSEMASTERS: GUITAR WOLF

INSPIRATION: GUITAR WOLF
Guitar Wolf is an epic Japanese garage rock & roll band that is notorious for "maximum volume" and ultimate badass hair. I was fortunate enough to see them four years ago at one of their last shows with the original line-up, because about two weeks later their bassplayer "Bass Wolf" tragically passed from a heart attack.

Aside from creating earthquake-inducing albums, they also made an incredible movie called "Wild Zero". Although from first glance it might just seem like a rock'n'roll zombie adventure movie (sooooo boring), it really has a whole lot more to it...like a tender coming of age, exploration of the notion of gender, the importance of hair gel and how to wear leather pants like a pro. Did I meantion rock'n'roll and zombies?

If nothing else, Wild Zero is an inspiration on how to pose like a champ and throw fierce face in any given situation.

Its no secret that boots and rockabilly hair make me swoon.

Wild Zero is the best! I love the scene where Ace is freaking out after he finds out Tobio is a he, not a she and then Guitar Wolf comes in and says that great quote. Sooo good.
You have excellent taste in music AND film... You're killing me Zana!

I also saw Guitar Wolf about 5-6 years ago, when I brought them to play at my college music venue. The health center distributed ear plugs for the show, and afterwards, my insides were literally vibrating for days. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars worth of damage they did to the venue, as well as hurling a mike stand at my nemesis, hahaha. I had no idea that the bassist died of a heart attack, which is quite sad, although somehow it doesn't surprise me at all. They were one of the most insane acts I've ever seen. I'll have to go and find that movie now...
