Sacrifice for Sanity
On Sunday, I passed by a very nice clothing shop with a little sale rack outside filled with beautiful things that I would have loved to own. Those demons in the back of my head started chanting, "maybe..." but I immediately closed my eyes for a second and walked away. Getting out of the habit of spending money on clothing has really made me feel like a bit of a junkie, realizing my own physical and mental attachments (mom I know you're reading this, it's not your fault!). Sure, I've bought a few vintage things here and there, and some magazines in the first couple of weeks...but in general, I'm pretty proud of my restraint. So when I started to feel that itch on Sunday that usually gets me grabbing for my wallet, I instead started to think of what dramatic alterations I could do with some of the pieces that I already own.Just like the black buttons, I have been carrying around a bag full of hundreds of pyramid studs for a couple of months now, but had been hesitant to put them into action due to the recent stud-frenzy-phenomenon. In my heart, I knew exactly what had to be done. My brown Report boots had to go. I want to cover the whole shoe, or at least a significant majority. Heavy fucking clomper robot danger feet.

You're sweet, but I am sure I had something to do with the habit. Might be all those other collections in your past. The boots are fabulous.
Hell yes! This is the best studs DIY I've seen in a looong time.
love it! how long does the studding process take?
Why haven't I gone to your blog before? It's great.
Love these boots, they were worth all the studs, it's awesome.
Those look seriously fierce. I'm sure you'll wear them well.
Very nice, altering things you have is a grand idea! Lovely stud action going on here!

Z, your photography is always amazing. Seriously.
The shoes came out great.
they are amazing! I am in desperate need of that tool.. my hands kill from squeezing the studs into the fabric!
xo
as a "not too much into studding"- person my eyes were immediately attracted by the magazine on your floor and i was just about to ask which one it is, when i scrolled down the posts and got an answer faster than expected. getting directed to so far unknown magazines is always the best.
i love. i love. i love!!!
Awesome! They look so cool!

They are 'smukke' as one say in Danish! Daring considering that you could risk ruining a pair of great shoes! Where did you by the studs? They're so expensive everywhere - well maybe it's just in Denmark..
But anyway, I really love your blog! If would be so cool if you would consider visiting my blog, which I have with a friend. It's: www.highlydazed.wordpress.com!
oh wow
they look so much better!
I FUCKING LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!
1. Never would have guessed those were Report.
2. I've always only used my leather hole punch for spikes that have screws - I had no idea it would work with studs. Looks good.
those turned out pretty sweet. where did you find the studs? I cant seem to find them anywhere. i saw that you used to live in SF, thats my neck of the woods too. any suggestions on where i can find some studs? thanks so much

LOVE the boots. don't bother studding the rest of it, they're perfect as is!!!
If my Mum saw those she would shout "you're gonna poke somebodies eye out with those things". But that wouldn't stop me from rockin' them. Good job.
uhg I was just trying to stud and spike some oxfords yesterday but gave up and kicked them to the curb. I really need to get one of those leather hole punchersssssss
Sooo Awesome!
