OBSESSED WITH THE VEST. SERIOUSLY

So I'll break it down one more time - here at Harputs Market, we run a tight team - some of the things that we do include graphic design, webwork, interior design, party hosting, witty conversation...and oh yeah, run a beautiful store. Most recently, we've dived into clothing production, conceptualizing and creating our own seasonless line IN store (like literally, upstairs).

Pictured above is the NEWEST garment that was experimented on and perfected over the past week. We call it "The Vest"...it has an extended section with a third armhole that lets you wear it about a bazillion ways. I'm pretty obsessed...my favorite way to wear it is the way you see it in the third image, where you head goes through the middle hole and arms rest in the remaining two armholes. The best thing about it is that we are able to sell it for $150... the whole goal of Harputs OWN was to create a relatively affordable line without sacrificing quality.

More goodies that I put up yesterday...click here to indulge.

LAST NIGHT'S SHOW WAS BETTER THAN SEX

FUCK.
Last night felt like something extremely important was happening - a sort of departure in new music. Two full-body experiences, back to back - fast, deep drumming...focused, crazed energy...noise and dance. Last night's show was more inspirational than any fashion magazine or runway show, and I am proud to have been there to bear witness to such a "spiritual" (Kirsten's lingo is rubbing off on me) event. AND THEY ARE ON TOUR TOGETHER RIGHT NOW SO CATCH THEM IF YOU CAN.

1. THANK YOU www.myspace.com/wethankyou

2. MI AMI www.myspace.com/miamiamiami
It was strange and surreal to be a this Mi Ami show, because I've been following them practically since the band's conception, and have watched their progression, saw the affect that they have on a crowd. I never dance so much as I do at a Mi Ami show. They are on a massive two month tour, which includes a show in Berlin during mid-April...so to know that the next time (and probably the last for a while) that I will be seeing them will be in my new home is exhilarating.

HI I'M STILL HERE

Jacob (left) is practically my brother. I never get to see him these days but when I do it is all full of him making fun of me and me trying to do the same with him. He was the first person to ever take me to a party in SF, and guided me around...got me jaded real early on. We had a joint birthday party when I turned 17 and he turned 20.

INDIVIDUALLY REPRESENTING LIGHT GREY, MID GREY, AND BLACK

My lovely MARCUS (& Connie) stopped by HARPUTS MARKET today, and left with one of the early versions of The Swacket. Its made in a lightweight wool with bias bindings around the edges. This just goes to show that The Swacket isn't only for one type of person...and as he was experimenting with it, Colleen & I had to jump in for pictures too...

JUST GAZE

Back to normal updates tonight, had to take a moment to breathe. Now taking requests...

& a random bit of trivia: when kicking ass on the ellipticals at the gym, I enjoy listening to Nick Cave's "The Mercy Seat" during the final stretch...like at the 30 minute mark. Nothing like an 8 minute song to deliver you to the finishing line

REPLACEMENTS

1. One of the stones fell off of my watch on new years eve, and it has been looking a little bit worse for wear ever since. Today I acquired a bag of itty-bitty pyramid studs, just the right size for the missing spot! Now I feel like my watch has a gold tooth. In the process of superglue-ing the stud in, I poked a pin into the container of glue and a 2-foot long spurt of super glue popped up, hitting my hands, forhead and...front of my hair. I spent the next 20 minutes under the faucet, with conditioner and oils desperately working the glue out. Luckily there was not much damage sustained.

2. My new passport photos. I'm glad that I had them done with this crazy haircut, because I KNOW in two years I will be laughing hysterically looking at it. I was considering taking the picture with the fake-fur on my jacket (one post down)...but I thought that would be a bit much. As far as my "signature red glasses" are concerned, I usually change my glasses once per year anyways! Although I enjoy the idea of having an established look, I also find it equally important to continue experimentation and not get stuck on one look.

I ALWAYS ROLL MY SLEEVES UP PAST MY ELBOWS

(Jacket - K-2 / Faux Fur - DIY / Dress - Diana Brinks / Boots - Fiorentini + Baker / Bluesteel - from my mama)

Things to do today (In order): Yell at Bank Of America, apply for new passport, get eyes checked for contact lenses (?), respond to e-mails, study German, go to gym, harass Hope post-gym...

YIN & YANG

Rain Walk
Kirsten came over to watch the Oscars. Afterwards we entertained the weather and went on a walk. We started off going through Chinatown, which was very quiet although many businesses were still open. I've been enjoying taking night-shots around the city lately.

Kept walking, arrived downtown - greeted by steam in the street. Neither Kirsten nor I can resist dramatic backdrops. We also passed by the new American Apparel that is open downtown...that makes 3 total, with a proposed location in the Mission which was halted due to residents protesting.

After walking through Union Square, I remembered that one of the hotels had a glass elevator that you could ride up to the 30the floor & have an open view the entire time. So we went hotel hunting and ended up at the Westin St. Francis, which provided not only the breathtaking cityscape (and subsequent vertigo and thoughts of Charlie & The Chocolate Factory), but an adventure...a luxe labyrinth.

By the way, this is my new Ann Sofie Back faux leather jacket. It has exaggerated shoulder pads and elbow pads (runway shot here). I am also wearing a shirt & scarf by Stephan Schneider and Frye boots.
