DAWN OF THE DEAD!

When I was in Paris for 2.5 days for the LURVE launch, an awful thing happened - the heel of my Ann Demeulemeester boots snapped in half (re-live it HERE). But the next day, an angel in the form of a lady named Jean contacted me to suggest the services of the place she worked - Meurice Garment Care. She guaranteed that they would be able to fix the cracked heel, so naturally when I came back to New York I made a point to pay her a visit. Along with the Ann D's, I brought along my Rick Owens turbo wedges - which I had accidentally worn to the ground, plus the en point of the spike in the back had become ravaged due to rough encounters with subway stairs and curbsides.

It took me a while to return to pick them up (57th St is a bit out of the way for a Williamsburger like me) and the Ann's aren't ready yet, but I GOT THEM BACK TODAY! And may I say, I am not only impressed but I am blown away by the workmanship. The soles are completely reinforced, and the leather has been completely mended on the spiked back - something that I didn't even think was possible. Not to mention that I receive my shoes in a Meurice tote bag AND dustbag inside. Who said customer service is dead? I also dropped off my Chloe wedges to be stretched and a Yigal Azrouel skirt with a busted zipper. I'm confident that they will do a more than stellar job, and I will report on the results once they are one...

And since this post is about bringing shoes into my life, I couldn't help but previewing my newest acquisition - Prada croc wedges the craziest cut-out ever!!!

Sorry you're probably sick of me commenting on you hahaha, but there is something SO wonderful about getting shoes back that you had feared dead, in almost perfect condition (I also tend to wear a shoe until it's falling apart, and then another year on top of that). And in a tote/dust bag? It's actually rather sexy. Maybe it's something to do with the workmanship - skillz are hot.

That is massive. Even though I live on the West Coast I am keeping their info. Ya never know when it might be needed...

Your rattan shoes are great! Definitely getting a summer vibe off of them. They need to go on a cruise or something.

Good to know there is someone out there that can fix these things.. I have extreme paranoia when it comes to damaging my shoes :)

Thanks goodness for shoe repair! Everytime I have to throw a pair in the garbage, I tear up a little.

do you ever find it difficult to find good repair service because you yourself are not oblivious to craftsmanship? there's nothing worse than a shoddy job. i wish i could find a place like that in la. sigh.

the ASB coat would look stellar on you miss bayne. ps. i like your last name because it sort of goes with my name, jayne =). i stalked my coat for what seemed like an eternity before i was finally able to get it in my possession. now if i could just have the same luck with the asymmetric ivory satin blouse from the same season...

Do you think they'd be averse to having a pair shipped there from LA to be fixed...LOL.

They did a wonderful job. And those wedges are crazytown.

Good to know about Meurice! And those Pradas are so so cool!

I have spent as much money on repairing shoes as I have buying shoes! But when you find someone good, hey, it's worth it!

And the Pradas? Incredible!

I think I just spent five minutes starring at those Pradas. My mind is just going over ever (visible) construction clue. Their just beautiful. Lame word choice, but shit, their pretty.
