On Saturday night, I was invited to a party at the residence of TwistedLamb's Mary Lee. She lives in an amazing space which I have vowed to come back and photograph again, but for the time being I couldn't help myself to a portrait of Mary and her exotic friend...

ha! i am one of those strange vegetarians/vegans (mostly just vegetarian) that obsesses over taxidermy. i am so intrigued by it.. so much, i can't explain why i like it so much.. i wont buy new fur, but will buy vintage, prefer faux.. but i did just buy a cow hoof that is actually wrapped around a wine bottle to make something of a canteen..
again, i love your photos, your voice and your spirit which shines through these photos..

Regardless of whether she hunted it or not (and I wear leather and eat meat)... it's a leopard. Leopards may not have been endangered when this one was hunted and skinned but their conservation status is Near Threatened (as in, they are on the verge of being an Endangered Species) now and it's highly offensive. I'm saddened that two blogs I love could display such a gross amount of poor taste.

as if the leather isn't bad enough - how do you live with yourself, covered in and surrounded by the skin of murdered animals day in and day out, profiting from unnecessary death? you're a talented girl, and you can do better.
