STOP EVERYTHING

In the midst of a packing extravaganza, I came across this vintage croc-skin (or is it gator? I don't know) bag which I stored away after one of the handles broke off. I realized that there was no graceful way to fix it, so I hammered it back together then and there that I was going to go in for a full bag-massacre. I ripped out half of the inside, and started hammering in holes and pushing in studs. I've been trying to find projects for my last remaining stash, so this was the perfect excuse to get rid of them. What began as a small splash turned into a full-on spill over of silver.

THIS IS THE NEW SHIT

Today I got the keys to my first apartment on my own! Its only a short walk from my current place. I move in on Thursday, but won't have internet installed until next Monday (my worst nightmare), but I'm sure I'll figure out some way to stay online. The decision to find my own place was very quick and instinctual, and I can't believe I was able to make it happen in such short notice. I guess I'm the sort of person who when I want something to happen, I want it to happen tomorrow. I think that's called impatient? Or maybe pro-active. Either way its all happening...

Come inside! There's lots of light.

The view from the (tiny) bedroom into the studio, kitchen, and mini bathroom. The photos are deceptive, its smaller than it looks but perfectly sized for me!

And of course I had to investigate, and guess what? ROOF ACCESS! I love Brooklyn cityscapes.

I'M VERY PROUD OF YOU

This weekend is pride weekend, and like most alternating Saturdays I spent a nice portion of the night at GAG!, Cameron's DJ night at Metropolitan bar in Williamsburg celebrating my favorite sort of man; the gay kind. Surely my life would be severely without them.

Check out Wesley's harness by Bliss Lau!

Cameron took his "CC" harness out for a spin...

PAPER GETS SOCIAL

I had a lovely time yesterday evening at the back garden of Soho Grand celebrating all of us social networkers from Paper Mag's May issue. I met up with Laia of Geometric Sleep, and we did what we do best - drink, tweet, chit chat and try on each others sunglasses (that's a lie actually, I had to have the cat eye experience).

I've been meaning to do this for quite some time, and now I finally have a legitimate amount of documentation to provide. May I present to you some of the amazing ladies and gentleman around the world who triumphantly don Zana Bayne leather pieces!

Ladies who Leather: 3-Strap Belt on Meagan, Basic Harness on Nikki, 3-Wing Shoulderpiece on ?

There's always an occasion for a Winged Harness

But you can't go wrong with a Basic Harness either

Megan is one of my fit models and product testers (this harness is coming soon)

This is what happens when Michael Magnan lends his one-off harness to his roommate for go-go...

TWIST & SWEAT

(Tank - Silence & Noise / Pants - Kaylee Tanks / Shoes - Prada)

I've been thrown back into the same situation I was when I first landed in New York - what to wear in this dreadful, soupy weather? Why am I constantly sweating, and how can I keep my eyebrows from dripping off? Each day a conflict, battle, then resolution.

Rings from bottom to top: Meadowlark, Vintage, Pat Ficalora, Meadowlark. The bracelet is a combination of three separate pieces.

READING WITH ZANA 14

Reading With Zana 14 - Sang Bleu 5
Where should I begin about issue 5 of Sang Bleu Magazine? For starters, I received it about a month ago (note - I'm astonished that time has passed so quickly!), and it has taken me this long to initially process it, not to mention that I will still be unpacking its contents for months to come. Under the guise of a "tattoo & fashion" magazine, Sang Bleu is able to dissect our notions of identity, beginning at the exterior surface and working its way (like ink) through our inner selves; exploring our need for fantasy, the normalcy of kink & fetish, why we decide to look the way we do (if it is indeed a decision), and our attraction to what is considered "dark".

Working your way through Sang Bleu is like navigating through a stream of consciousness - certain ideas and themes are obviously present, but most will become clear after re-examination. Interviews spill onto editorials, overlapping with portraits that share space with essays and prose, back to more interviews and then artwork...and it continues as such throughout the 308 pages of the double-volume issue. The organization is created through the content, and how you re-contextualize it throughout your reading. It's a hypnotic, seductive experience.
