CHANGE OF SEASON PT. 2

I would like to think of myself as a thoughtful shopper - aware of my potential wants & needs a the time, and prone to impulse. Again, this is the idealized version, and unfortunately the reality. I fall in love with clothing. I get a guttural, spiritual reaction to incredible garments! And I caught completely unprepared a couple of weeks ago at the sight of this burnt crimson Miu Miu piece. I probably should know better by now not to "stop by" the previous-season-designer-shop Change Of Season. After my success last time with the Rick Owens sweater, I knew that there would always be something special for me there. The second I walked in, there it was staring at me! Did I need it? No. Did I need it? Absolutely!

I took a walk around the block to think it over. I fondled a pair of Alaia boots at Tokio 7, but my mind was elsewhere. I stomped right back into Change Of Season, threw it on, threw down my debit card, and never looked back.

I've never really thought of myself as a Miu Miu gal, but I guess this shows that biases are ridiculous! A runway version of my piece from the Fall 09 collection

WEDNESDAY ALL THE WAY

Not feeling so stellar this week, resorting to pattern, ritual and due dates to keep me motivated. Today's big triumph was cleaning my apartment. Since I both live and work in a small space, it tends to get apocalyptically disastrous in a heartbeat. All of a sudden there are leather shavings in my breakfast, or a rogue grape rolling over a pile of harnesses. Yet with a known history of messiness, I still haven't figured out how to maintain day-to-day order. I will use every inch of space possible until I am literally tiptoeing over objects on my floor in order to not step on a rivet or scissor. But you would never know - I disallow anyone from ever seeing my space that way! And for right now, this very minute, it does indeed look fine.

Laundry is a luxury. Today I indulged.

There's a pot of gold somewhere in Bushwick! And is it just me, or do I spy a slight double rainbow?

BACK TO MY ROOTS

So over the last few days, I've been a bit distracted - between picking up extra days at work, dealing with a really obnoxious & painful allergic reaction to a bugbite (ew), getting acquainted with my new harddrive (the one that crashed was sadly unrecoverable), and of course - leatherthings, I haven't really had a moment to blog! But yesterday was miraculous; I finished my work early! Coupled by a lunch invitation by Char, I was lured out of Williamsburg & felt it necessary to take the rest of the day off. And what better escape than a jaunt up to midtown for a visit to MOMA and Barneys? Additionally, we decided to take hang out next to our favorite pieces in the "Abstract Expressionist New York" exhibition (my dress is by Rick Owens DRKSHDW). Enjoy!

I adore Louise Nevelson

IN THE EVENT OF MID-DAY OUTFIT ANXIETY...

(Jacket - Harputs OWN / Dress - Helmut Lang, worn backwards / Lipstick - MAC "Lady Danger")

As a girl who often leaves my apartment in the AM and not to return until it is dark out, I sometimes become dissatisfied with my garment choice throughout the day. I'm not one to be easily bothered or anxious, but when I feel uncomfortable with how I look or how I have put myself together for the day, it can truly bring me down. Sad? Certainly. But we all have our ticks, I guess this is one of mine. Luckily for me, there is clothing that literally comes to the rescue. Today's example is the "3-hole blazer" by my dear family at Harputs of San Francisco. There are several extra ways the piece can be worn, but I've documented my two favorites: worn open & asymmetrical, or wrapped to create a subtle cowl. Now if only I had a pair of transformer boots...

GUESS WHO??

There's company in the House of Bayne...

...someone who wears PVC pants & Margiela boots...

...someone who adheres strictly to the greyscale and adores abstract necklaces...

CAMERON OF COURSE!!!

After too many casual encounters & missed connections, Cameron finally came over for a night of grub & gossip. As much as I love my independent living, I do miss this boy dearly!

The infamously perfect hair hat

& It wouldn't be complete without an appropriate meal. I got something called the "Williamsburger" which should really be titled the "Hanukkahburger" because it involved a beef patty, a potato latke, applesauce & sourcream. I won't lie, it was amazing.
