When it comes to footwear, I've found myself becoming increasingly picky. I can't tolerate a painful heel, nor do I have the patience to make difficult shoe shapes & colors 'work' with my preexisting wardrobe. I like it when my ensemble ends with a black shoe. I like boots, specifically ankle boots - but I don't like paying a lot for them! I treat my shoes pretty roughly, so preciousness is out of question.
Over the years, I have developed a habit of ankle boot favoritism: I will wear one pair almost exclusively for a year or two until it becomes destroyed beyond repair. I am dreading the moment that it happens to my beloved Veronique Branquinho boots. So I've been looking for an alternate - more or less equal in shape & comfort. After exhausting my entire list of online shopping sources, I decided to pay a visit to an old San Francisco haunt, Gimme Shoes, and suddenly I was eye-to-eye with the perfect boot (Eileen Shields for Maria Cornejo) at a perfect price. A little voice in my mind told me to order one size up, and its a good thing that I did "cause they run a size small. Yes, shoe angels might in fact exist.
