VERLAINE FW2011

Ever so rarely I am introduced to a collection that seems to speak directly to my soul, an instant chemistry of necessity. After viewing their FW11 collection yesterday, I can happily add Verlaine to that list. The New York based label has done just about everything right in my book for a fall wardrobe - slightly oversized menswear inspired coats, cocoon shapes cinched at the waist with a burst of red (hand dyed), twisted asymmetrical black dresses, sculptural knits, and sharply tailored vests and jackets. I appreciate that the pieces are forward thinking without being situated in the future - neither are they following any trend to overkill. Its clothing I'd be happy to wear tomorrow, and for the next 10 years to come.

I don't know how they did it, but the designers somehow read my mind and crafted my dream dress; the perfect subtly severe neckline, knotted body, slim sleeves...

So glad you loved the collection. I work for the PR team and you were the first person I had in mind to view the collection. I've been a reader of your blog for a while plus LOVE your harnesses, which may have been mentioned.

Anywho, glad you loved it!

Nice! The designer from this collection is Vaughan Alexander, very talented guy who worked in Japan for a long time, before becoming the costumier for Peaches, then moving to NYC.. MAD LOVE!

This is such a great collection. I think the first image is my version of the perfect black dress. I'm a sucker for shoulder detailing. The belt is also perfect.

Thank you for sharing these images and spreading the word on new designers.

The second to last model pic is truly inspiring, if it is a pantsuit I might scream a little. Is it a pansuit or a long dress?

that's beautiful. i love the long black trench coat, (reminds me to wear my black silk ones more often) and the chunky knit jumper.
