TATTOO TUESDAY RETURNS

Yesterday started just like any other - wake up early, schlep over the bridge with too many bags, cut out some harnesses...but at 3pm I cut out early and headed over to Greenpoint to put my ankle in the hands of the incredible Tamara Santibanez at Three Kings Tattoo. I've found that in New York, meeting like-minded individuals is truly serendipitous event. Its all about the perfect alignment of right place/right time, whether that be a casual word in passing while leaving a party, a friendly encounter at the post office, or in Tamara's case - responding to my call for studio help in April last year. I quickly realized that she was way overqualified to be running errands for me, and that I would rather work with her than have her work for me.

I finally had the chance to get a piece of her artwork tattoo'd on me two months ago - a bat flying down my left ankle, a twist on the Hermes winged foot. Although having one was great, I wanted to get a my right ankle done to balance it out. I wanted the two bats to be similar in size and shape, but differ slightly in detail and personality. And to no surprise, the final piece kicked ass!

Todd got his palm done after my tattoo, which Tamara freehanded
