ZANA BAYNE FW12 @ CATM CHELSEA

The Show

Four years ago I started this blog. Three years ago (almost) I moved to New York. Both being key moments in my life which in one way or another led me to a third key moment in my life - showing my Fall/Winter 2012 collection through multimedia collaborative works at the CATM Chelsea Gallery. My idea was to replace a traditional model/mannequin presentation with something that would give the collection a life beyond simply being accessories. Through the collaborations, you are able to see that the presence of leather has a visual language all to its own, instantaneously revealing something more physical and sensuous about an image. There were no actual harnesses presented, although they were present in all of the works. Besides my own pieces (two circular 'mandalas' comprised of 8 of my FW12 Skull Harnesses), the show featured works by three of my favorite minds in the industry (I will be posting full images of their pieces this week): Char Alfonzo, Maxime Buchi, and Adrian Wilson.

i love how you curated your line. i think it keeps the focus on the potential of the pieces.

the opening attendee with the tattoos and the sheer t-shirt is excellent.

Those full body prints are stunning!! What a killer show, it's so inspiring to see fashion pieces shown in an artistic setting like this, no plastic mannequins allowed!
